Steelhead

The area is generally known to have adequate water, but it is a "rural residential" area, and intensive, new developments can potentially stress the aquifer.  The wells are overburden wells and are typically constructed in sands and gravels

Silverdale

Wells in Silverdale are typically screened wells constructed in sands and gravels, with more bedrock wells being found the further north you travel.  While many of the drilled wells range in depth from 100-400 feet, there are still a considerable number of dug wells in Silverdale which need replacing.

Hatzic

Domestic wells in Hatzic are predominantly shallow sandpoints (driven wells).  The water quality can often be poor with high levels of iron and manganese, and in certain areas the aquifer has high levels of Nitrates due to contamination (can be common in shallow aquifers).  In order to avoid the water quality issues associated with shallow wells we will often recommend drilling a deeper well, in Hatzic there are some drilled wells around 200 feet deep.

Stave Falls

The aquifer typically supplying the Stave Falls residents is of excellent quality (some areas do have some iron), and of decent yield.  Typical well depths range between 80-200 feet.

Whonnock

Whonnock wells are typically constructed in fractured bedrock.  These wells can be as deep as 450 feet and constructed in Basalt.  As you go further north towards Kanaka you'll find some overburden wells shallower than 100 feet, with many older homes still utilizing dug wells.

Albion

There are many deep 400-500 foot deep bedrock wells in Albion producing very little water, but there are also drilled wells around 100 feet deep.  I suggest you don't rely on our well cost calculator and reach out to us to do some in depth research of the neighbourhood.  Depending on our prognosis we may suggest a seismic survey be done.

Why Local Experience Matters

Drilling conditions in Mission can change dramatically within short distances. An experienced drilling contractor understands how to adjust drilling methods, casing depth, and well design based on local formation knowledge.

A well built correctly from the start will outperform one drilled to a “standard depth” without consideration for site-specific conditions.
