How Do You Know Where To Drill?

Give us a call and I'll come out and have a look. First  I'll be looking for a spot that's at least 100 feet from any potential source of contamination.  In some places we want the well on a certain side of the property to try and intercept a particular aquifer.  We're also going to be trying to keep it close to the house so that we're minimizing the amount of trenching needed -pump wire is not cheap!  Some of my customers have an idea as to where they'd like the well, sometimes they leave it up to my recommendations.

Certain parts of the Fraser Valley are difficult to find water in (Sumas Mountain, South Langley around 264th Street, and Ryder Lake area to name a few).  In these cases we'll refer you to a company that specializes in finding water using Seismic Resistivity methods.  We're the only local contractor willing to do this, the other guys want to close the deal and don't care if they drill a dry hole.  Email us to book a site visit and we'll figure it out together.

How Much Does It Cost To Drill A Well?

That's a good question but tough to answer without us doing some research first.  Just give us a call or send us an email.  How it typically works is I first talk with you to get an address, and to determine your water needs, from there I'll do a search of the existing provincial well records.  This can give us a general idea of the wells in the area but often local driller knowledge will give a better insight.  If you're ready to have a well drilled I can give you a written estimate based on the info we have and how much water you're needing.  The estimate is FREE so don't be afraid to reach out.

What Happens If You Don't Find Water?

Nobody wants to pay for a dry hole to be drilled, and I don't want to drill one.  Hands down it's the worst feeling as a driller.

Although it doesn't happen very often, occasionally  we don't encounter an aquifer.  If you decide to have us drill another well while we're on site we will offer you a discounted rate if you'll have us try again.  In certain areas it's tough to find water and unfortunately we can't guarantee the quantity or quality of water.  We will go out of our way to let you know if you're in an area known for a lack or water or poor water quality, and can offer suggestions for you beforehand.

How Much Water Am I Going To Need?

I'm going to answer this question as if I'm speaking with a homeowner.  Some homeowners are getting by with 1 gallon a minute wells if they have storage.  They might not be happy, but are making due.  Others don't think twice about not conserving water because the well is high yielding.

That being said a typical household won't require storage with a well yielding 5 gallons/minute, but 6-12 gallons/minute is more inline with a typically family's water needs.  Quite often there are multi-generational households being built on acreages here in the Valley,  in these cases we will suggest construction methods which will maximize well yield, or drilling deeper into a higher yielding aquifer if it's available.

Help! We're Out Of Water! What Do We Do?

First off, I suggest you call a reliable pump contractor like EDS Pumps in Aldergrove.  They have a large service crew and can help you determine if it's your pumping system or if you're going to need a new well drilled.  Their number is 604-534-1115.  If they're suggesting a new well give us a call.
